Assistant Manager

Our mission is to provide a safe, fun and stimulating environment for all dogs in our care, while focusing on good manners and proper socialization. Our goal is for every dog to have a calm, well-balanced experience at our pet retreat.

EACH and EVERY DAY, we offer and ensure professional, friendly, and exceptional care for our human clients and dog guests, so that they always have a GREAT TIME! We take pride in our work, measuring our success by the happiness of our dogs, their manners, our high safety/low injury rate and record, amount of time dogs spend in play, and the contentedness of our dogs at the end of the day.


  • Communicating any and all the day-to-day to the owner and the General Manager
  • Coach, supervise and discipline employees
    • Responsible for company morale and rewards
      • Including but not limited to appreciation notes, small surprises for staff members, and birthday/Employee of the Month announcements
  • Monitor Jolt checklists that they are getting completed thoroughly and correctly (and on time); coach staff on what corrections to make in the future
  • Maintain product inventory, where things are kept and how much is on hand
    • Inform GM when there are items we are out of/need to order
  • Set good standard for staff in following SOPs for dog handlers/groomers/desk
  • 3rd form of contact after owner and GM
  • Help with creative aspects of the business: creating graphics, flyers, presenting info in creative way to clients, participating in aesthetic of current lobby chalkboards


You must have strong work ethic, character, ability to multitask, spend a good amount of time on your feet, have exceptional attention to detail, and a love of life and dogs!

  • Schedule fluctuates with business needs (32-40hrs/week), weekends and many holidays are mandatory. Pay will go up for the right person able to help in the needed areas. Small business with local ownership, staff of 14-16 mostly part time – reliability is key!
  • 2 years previous kennel/canine experience 
  • Love all dogs unconditionally; understanding the importance of continued training
  • Good concept of using time wisely, multitasking, prioritizing tasks, lots of record keeping, and double checking details involved
  • Able to perform duties in facility: dog handler and front desk (without supervision)
  • Fiscally responsible
    • Aware of how many people to have on staff per dog volume
    • Staff accountability and keeping costs down while keeping care standards high
  • Available days, nights, weekends (are a must) and holidays
  • Must be available/ on-call to discuss business related concerns
